Thought of the Day September 14, 2017 The Exaltation of the Cross

“The Cross stands before us in these days as an eloquent symbol of God's love for humanity. … In his Passion, Death and Resurrection, we are shown that the last word in human existence is not death but God's victory over death. Divine love, manifested in its fullness in the paschal mystery, overcomes death and sin, which is its cause (cf. Rom 5: 12). (St. John Paul II) Though the cross is a symbol of cruelty, we exalt in the cross of Jesus Christ because through his cross and sufferings we have been saved. For us the cross is a symbol of final victory in Christ. That is why we wear a cross, why we sign ourselves with the cross and why we display a cross in our homes.

 

About the Author

Jesus said that we are to go to the ends of the world, proclaiming the Gospel of Salvation. Our recent Holy Fathers have urged us to use the social media to accomplish this task. This is just one attempt to respond to both calls. Join me in this effort.
