Thought of the Day April 13, 2018 All in love
“When Cardinal François-Xavier Nguyên van Thuân was imprisoned, he refused to waste time waiting for the day he would be set free. Instead, he chose ‘to live the present moment, filling it to the brim with love’. He decided: ‘I will seize the occasions that present themselves every day; I will accomplish ordinary actions in an extraordinary way’” (Pope Francis) This is the simple path to holiness, doing the ordinary things of life, the routine and mundane things of life in love. This was the little way of St. Theresa of Lisieux. The means to holiness are the daily situations of each of our lives. Of themselves they are ordinary, but done in love and for love transforms them into extraordinary moments of eternal consequences. This is the key to understand why Jesus insisted on the centrality of love for his disciples. It is the narrow road that leads to life with him.
