Taste and See How God is good!
Who but God can create us good, out of
nothingBgive us not only life but life with him,
share everything with usBand
when we sin through pride and disobedience, does not annihilate us but promises
us a Savior?
Who but God would enter into our historyBmake a covenant with Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob, provide for his people during famine, deliver them from exile and
slavery through signs and wonders too marvelous to beholdBand after all this is responded to through
the sin of grumbling and ingratitude, selfishness and rebellion?
Who but God would feed the multitude with
manna in the desert and meat by the drove, provide water to drink from a rock,
reveal the covenant of the LawBthen
to have the people respond with the words on their lips Awe will do all the Lord commands us@ only to turn to idolatry and debauchery
in front of a golden calf?
Who but God could rescue the people of
Israel through the judges and kings in spite of their wickedness and hardness
of heart?
Who but God could say to the peopleBAthough your sins be like scarlet, they may
become white as snow, though they be crimson red, they may become white as
wool. If you are willing and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land?@ Is 1:18-19
Who but God could say through the
prophets: ARemember not the events of the past, the
things of long ago consider not. See, I am doing something new! Now is springs
forth, do you not perceive it?@
