Thought of the Day August 3, 2018 Who but God.
Who
but God could generation after generation warn a people of destruction; plead
for them to circumcise their hearts, to turn from a lip service relationship to
a heartfelt commitment, chastise the people in exile for 70 years and then in
triumph lead them back to the promised Land?
Who
but a good God could give hope of a new Messianic Age, a Savior who would
establish a lasting kingdom to which all nations would share in?
Who
but a loving God would forgive seventy times seven; would be merciful to
servants who owed him a huge sum, who would welcome the prodical son, would
forgive the sins of the prostitutes and tax collectors, who would come not for
the righteous but for sinners, who would rejoice over one sinner who repented
than ninety-nine who did not, who would go after the lost sheep, who would heal
the blind, preach good news to the poor, free prisoners, raise the dead to
life?
Who
but a good, loving, provident God would use bread and wine to become the sign
of his own flesh and blood to be shared and eaten in anticipation of the full
banquet to come in glory?
Who
but a good God could promise and fulfill the promise of eternal life, where he
dwells with his people and they with him, where he will wipe away every tear
from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or
pain, for the former world has passed away? Rev 21:4
