Thought of the Day Advent Week 2 Day 4 Time of repentance
Advent Week 2
Day 4
“The Lord does
not delay his promise, as some regard ‘delay,’ but he is patient with you, not
wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and
the elements will be dissolved by fire, and the earth and everything done on it
will be found out.” (2 Peter 3:9-10)
God in his mercy gives us time to repent and
return to him before he comes in glory. He has warned us through many
statements that he will come back in glory. His first coming was to save us from
the second death. His second coming is to confirm if we responded to his gift
of redemption or not. Knowing our weaknesses, he doesn’t give us only one
chance to repent, but many. However, we should never take his mercy and
generosity for granted. Rather, we should always live as if this was our last
day and thus be in union with him now. For he will come when we least expect
it. Be ready to go with him.
Come, Lord Jesus, come!
