Thought of the Day Advent Week 2 Day 5 Judgement
Advent Week 2
Day 5
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory,
and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and
all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate
them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on his
right and the goats on his left.” (Matthew 25:31-33)
When Jesus comes in glory he will judge the
living and the dead. This is the scene in Matthew’s Gospel. It is the final
judgment. If we have died before this, we will already have been judged. Our
eternity will have been decided. Either we will be with the Lord in his glory because
we heard these words: ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
(Matthew 25:34) The alternative is we will be alienated from him in eternal
damnation. “Depart from me, you accursed, into the
eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)
The basis of our judgment will be whether we
have lived a life of love for God and others through service.
Come, Lord Jesus, come!
