Thought of the Day June 17, 2019 Blessings from God
(Continuing Our Glorious Inheritance)
Paul
proclaims in his Letter to the Ephesians: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in
the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of
the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to
himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us
in the beloved.” (1:3-6)
The first blessing we received from God is he
created us and gave us human life out of love. But because of the sin of Adam
and Eve, we were alienated from God. The second blessing is Jesus’ death on the
cross reconciled us back to the Father.
Though Jesus saved all, not all are saved. This blessing of salvation
was personalized for us in Baptism. As a result you and I began a life journey
of holiness and response in love, praising God for his glorious plan. This is the third blessing. Reflect on these blessings.
