Thought of the Day August 9, 2019 Clothe yourself with meekness
Reflecting on meekness, Paul exhorts his disciples in their relationship with each
other: “And so, as a prisoner in the
Lord, I beg you to walk in a manner worthy of the vocation to which you have
been called: with all humility and meekness, with patience, supporting one
another in charity.” (Ephesians 4:1-2)
Again in Colossians 3:12 he says“Therefore, clothe yourselves like
the elect of God: holy and beloved, with hearts of mercy, kindness, humility,
modesty, and patience.”
What is Paul possibly hinting at? Is it the teaching of Jesus
identifying that the root of our sins against others come from within? Or as
James indicates: “Where do wars and contentions among you come from? Is it not
from this: from your own desires, which battle within your members?” (James
4:1)
What would happen if instead we sought to put on the virtue of meekness in our daily life?
