Thought of the Day September 1, 2020 Trinity: Mystery
What is the
central mystery of God, from which all the other mysteries flow? Is it not the
mystery of the Trinity, one God but three equal and distinct persons, Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit? We cannot begin to wrap our minds around this revelation,
no matter how much we try to rationally understand it. Even in heaven it will
still be a mystery that can only be acknowledged and responded to with sung
praise and perfect adoration.
There with the
Heavenly inhabitants we will sing: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and who is, and who is to come...You are worthy, O Lord our God, to
receive glory and honor and power” (Revelations 4:8, 11)
We will be able
to see God in all of his glory and all of our questions concerning the mystery
of his being will become irrelevant and insignificant. Only Amen will be sufficient. So be it. Let
this be the longing within us that compels us on our journey to the One in
three, the Source of our existence.
Lord, we long to be with you and to sing your praises, as we bask in your glory.
