Thought of the Day November 25, 2020 Thanksgiving
“Remember the past with gratitude. Live the
present with Enthusiasm. Look forward to the future with confidence.”- St. John
Paul II
A simple admonition from a saint, but maybe
hard to live by the sinners we are. We may find ourselves saying: We remember
the past with regret. We live the present with fear. We face the future with
anxiety. And we wonder why we have such a negative attitude about life? This is
not what inspired the saints like St. Paul who said: “And let the peace of Christ
control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And
be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and
spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians
3:15-17)
This is how we can “remember the past with gratitude; live the present with enthusiasm; look forward to the future with confidence.” Thanks be to God!
