Thought of the Day March 15, 2021 God's love
"God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him will have eternal life" (John 3:16)
We can't begin to imagine, comprehend, fully appreciate or adequately respond to the love God has for us. We have sinned beyond measure, and yet God still loves us. I am reminded of a story. Two women were washing their clothes in the river. There was a thorn bush next to one woman. She noticed a spider caught in the bush. She reached out and freed it and it bit her. A little latter on the spider was again caught in the bush. The woman again freed it and the spider bit her. After this happened a third time, the other woman rebuked her. "Don't you know that the spider is going to continually bite you?" The woman replied: "It may be the nature of the spider to bite me; it is my choice to free it." No matter how often we have sinned and will continue to sin, God lovingly reaches out to free us. There is no limit to his love. What should our response be? Only love that reflects gratitude can respond to his love. Even though our love is finite and limited, God accepts our love. But even if we don't respond, God still pours out his love. That is his nature.
