Thought of the Day March 17, 2021 God, rich in mercy
"God, who is rich in mercy, for the sake of his exceedingly great charity with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, has enlivened us together in Christ, by whose grace you have been saved. And he has raised us up together, and he has caused us to sit down together in the heavens, in Christ Jesus, so that he may display, in the ages soon to arrive, the abundant wealth of his grace, by his goodness toward us in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:4-7).
St. Paul stated i n the previous verses that we, because of our sins deserved God's wrath. In stead, he graciously poured his love upon us. Not only are we saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus, but we are further adopted as his sons and daughters, so that we may share in his glory. All is grace, mercy and love. Are we grateful or ungrateful? Will we embrace these gifts or will we return to our old way of darkness? Will our words and actions proclaim that we are heirs of the Kingdom of God or will we be citizens of this world, alienated from God? Living in the twilight zone will not be sufficient, for the twilight leads to darkness.
