Thought of the Day April 13, 2021 His mercy is everlasting
(Is 54:10): "For
the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love [hesed] shall not depart from you, and my covenant of
peace shall not be removed, says the Lord who has compassion on you."
God’s mercy was revealed to the Chosen People of the Old Testament through his covenant with them. Even though they for the most part were unfaithful to their convent relationship with God, God was always faithful on his part. He would chastise them, but then restore them. In his great mercy, God established the eternal covenant with human beings through the death and resurrection of Jesus, sealing it in his shed Blood. That may be why Jesus revealed to St. Faustina the image of Blood and Water flowing from his heart. Jesus said to her: The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous; the red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls…These two rays issued forth from the depths of My most tender Mercy at the time when My agonizing Heart was opened by a lance on the cross…”(St. Faustina’s Diary 299)
God is faithful to His covenant through his everlasting mercy, which will flow till the end of time. Lord, pour out your mercy upon us!
