The Holy Spirit is also our intercessor. We read in Romans 8:26-27: “In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God's will." 

As Jesus intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father, so too does the Holy Spirit. In our prayer to God, we don’t have to have the perfect words. The Spirit will intercede for us. We don’t have to understand the will of God for us in the moment. The Spirit does and gives us the strength to embrace the will of God without fully understanding it. How great is God's love for us!

One of the gifts of the Spirit is that of praying  in tongues. By this gift we surrender our control of knowing what to pray for to the Spirit or of offering the perfect prayer to God. We are content in praising God in "inexpressible groanings" for who he is and what he desires to do.
