How often we need the spiritual gift of discernment to know what is of God and what is not. This gift of discernment helps one to determine whether a person's words and actions are motivated by the Holy Spirit, by a demon, or by that person's own flesh nature. Discernment is the gift which helps one to perceive and distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of error. “Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” )1 John 4:1).

 After Jesus prophesied about his impending suffering and death, Peter reprimanded Jesus and said that would not happen to Jesus as long as Pete was around. Jesus turned on Peter and said: “Get behind me Satan. You are judging from man’s standards and not God’s.” Come, Holy Spirit, come. Give me a fresh anointing of the gift of discernment so that I may know what is of you and what is not.
