Thought of the Day July 29, 2021 Jesus' presence in me
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches this about the Eucharist.
1377 The Eucharistic presence of Christ begins at the moment of the consecration and endures as long as the Eucharistic species subsist. Christ is present whole and entire in each of the species and whole and entire in each of their parts, in such a way that the breaking of the bread does not divide Christ.
When Jesus spoke of Eucharist he said that the one who eats of his Body and drinks of his Blood will have life everlasting. When Jesus gives us himself in the Eucharist, he comes to nourish and renew the gift of his Divine life given to us in Baptism. Even though the Eucharistic species are no longer present, his life endures in us. While human food and drink are absorbed into us to nourish us, in Communion we are absorbed into the life of Christ. His life remains in us and we in him as long as we remain one in him. as St Paul proclaimed, "I live now, not I, but Christ Jesus in me." I breathe my human life, while Christ breathes his divine life in me. While not conscious of either, I need to reflect on the latter with awe and gratitude. Take a moment now to do so.
