There are so many things going on in the world and in our personal lives that we can be distracted from the most important moment and event. This season of Advent is not meant to be a time of busyness, leading to fatigue, but a time of interior preparation for the grace God desires to give us this Christmas. The coming of His Son in the flesh two thousand years ago was God's gift to the world out of love. But the coming of Jesus in our present time is to bring us a new gift of the Father's love. Jesus came without fanfare or public notice. He came in a state of helplessness and dependency. Mary and Joseph welcomed and received him. This Christmas he will come to us without blare of trumpets but in silence and  in stillness. Will we be attentive and receptive to the gift of himself as he comes? Take time to be still and recollected so you can hear the whisper of his love within you.
