Thought of the Day February 2, 2022 Our eternal home
St. John tells us that God pitched his tent among us, when he took on our flesh to live with us. Jesus became one like us in all things but sin, so that he could become our sacrificial redemption. By his death and resurrection we have been ransomed in Baptism and adopted as God's sons and daughters. In this way God restores us to his original plan for us, namely, to share in his divine life now and eternally. Jesus told the Apostles (and us) that he was going to prepare a place for us, that where he will be we will as well. Jesus came to dwell with us, so that we can dwell with him. Our destiny is not death but life, not to be alone but to be with all the angels and saints in God's eternal kingdom. So, we must not get distracted from reaching our true and lasting home. Like Paul, we are to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus the Lord, who calls us to himself.
