Thought of the Day August 19, 2022 Christ is living in me
Galatians 2:19b-20
"I have been crucified with Christ, and the life I live now is not my own; Christ is living in me. I still live my human life, but it is a life of faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:19-20)
What does this mean to you? In birth I was given natural life by God, but I was alienated from God because of Original Sin.. In the rebirth of baptism, I died to my old self and was adopted by God, who shared his own divine life with me. But I still struggle with the effects of Original sin, which Paul calls the Law of sin within me. I am called to die to sin, to unite myself to Christ crucified, so that Christ can continue to live in me. I am conscious of this war within me and my daily struggles with sin. But am I also consciously aware of the life of God in my by grace? Am I conscious each time I receive the Eucharist that God is strengthening me, so that his life becomes stronger than the Law of sin? Thank you, Lord, for dying for me and sharing your life with me, so that I can live with you eternally. Help me, Lord, to overcome the Law of sin within me by your grace, so that your life in me will reign supreme.
