Thought of the Day October 5, 2022 Come to me
“Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Am I one of the people Jesus is inviting to come to him? Do I feel weary and overwhelmed by the situations in my life that I have been dealing with for a long time? Am I one who has been struggling with a particular sin, addiction or scarred memories? Am I weighed down by guilt and shame from past decisions I have made? Is my life full of ups and downs, disappointments, failures, illnesses, grief, betrayals, rejection or family issues? Am I one who is beset with worries and anxieties of all kinds? Am I one who feels unloved, unappreciated, taken for granted, abused and walked all over? “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Do I hear the Lord’s invitation to me as life-giving and liberating? If so, then bring him your burdens. And hear him say, "Learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart. You are not alone, I am with you. I added your burdens to the cross I carried."
