Thought of the Day November 15, 2022 Intimacy
Today, the first reading is from the Book of Revelation. I love this quote. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, [then] I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me."
How often has Jesus knocked at the door of our hearts and we did not respond? How often did we respond? This does not happened just at initial conversion. The community of Laodicea had already been converted. But over time they became lukewarm in their relationship with God. Sounds familiar? Jesus called them and us to repent and to be attentive to his knock of grace, calling us into something deeper. What is that? To dine with another is to share intimately with that person, to spend quality time with the other, to share what's on one's heart with each other. This intimacy is God's deeper knock in our heart. Do we desire it? Do we seek it? Do we yield to it?
