Thought of the Day December 29, 2022 God with us and in us

By 10:41 AM

"God came to us because he wanted to join us on the road, to listen to our story, and to help us realize that we are not walking in circles but moving toward the house of peace and joy. This is the great mystery of Christmas that continues to give us comfort and consolation: we are not alone on our journey. The God of love who gave us life sent his only Son to be with us at all times and in all places, so that we never have to feel lost in our struggles but always can trust that he walks with us."

The story of Christmas is the fulfillment of the continual word of God to us throughout the Old Testament. "I am with you." We read in St. John's Gospel: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." He is Emmanuel: God with us. But there is a greater dimension to God is with  us. He came also to be within us and we in him. This was to fulfill his plan for us, namely, that we would share in his divine life and be with him  glorified  forever in his eternal presence. It was sin that alienated us from God. It was his coming, death and resurrection that has restored us in our relationship with God. Now, God can be in  us and we in God.
