Today, we celebrate the Holy Name of Jesus, in St. Paul's words, the name above all other names. Here is a quote I like to share for your reflection. “Faith in Jesus and in the power of His Holy Name is the greatest spiritual force in the world today. It is a source of joy and inspiration in our youth; of strength in our manhood, when only His Holy Name and His grace can enable us to overcome temptation; of hope, consolation, and confidence at the hour of our death, when more than ever before, we realize that the meaning of Jesus is ‘Lord, the Savior.’ We should bow in reverence to His Name and submission to His Holy Will.“ (Blessed Henry Suso)
There is power in the name of Jesus. Paul reminds us: "there is no other salvation, except in the name of Jesus." There is power over the temptations of the evil one in the name of Jesus. There is healing of all diseases in the name of Jesus. Reciting the name of Jesus reverently is an act of adoration of his divinity and praise of his humanity. Here is a quote from St. Bernard of Clairvaux which sums it up: “The sweet Name of Jesus produces in us holy thoughts, fills the soul with noble sentiments, strengthens virtue, begets good works, and nourishes pure affection. All spiritual food leaves the soul dry, if it contain not that penetrating oil, the Name Jesus.”

Jesus said that we are to go to the ends of the world, proclaiming the Gospel of Salvation. Our recent Holy Fathers have urged us to use the social media to accomplish this task. This is just one attempt to respond to both calls. Join me in this effort.
