There are so many times in the scriptures that speak of praising God. It is not that God needs our praise but our praise recognizes our relationship and dependency on God for all things. The Jews in the Old Testament prayed seven times a day, reminding themselves of their relationship. The Desert Fathers would pray throughout the day with short ejaculations for the same purpose. How often do we pray? How difficult is it to intentionally pray a short statement of praise and gratitude to God in the midst of our busy schedule? It is awareness that is needed, not energy. He loves me and has shown his love. How do we show our love? Prayer is our life line to God.
