We are called to holiness. But holiness is the work of God primarily. When we were baptized, God shared his divine life with us. We were holy from that moment on. Our role is to remain in his life and to avoid sin that separates us from God. This is the hard part of holiness, in a sense. There is a law of sin within us that seeks to separate us from God. Our role is recognize this law of sin and to yield to the law of love and grace, so that God can strengthen us in his holiness. Yes, we will fail many times. But turning to the loving mercy of God in repentance, we will be restored by God. Seek to be holy.
