It's a New Year of grace from the Father who loves us and sustains us in existence. His grace is given that we may grow in holiness in  union with  him. If you made any resolutions, did any have holiness as the goal? Yes, we may want to lose weight. Yes, we want to exercise. Yes, we want to keep our minds to stay active. But all these will be useless unless we are focused on our relationship with God. For if we are not growing in holiness, in our love of God, then we will easily back slide into some vice or sin. Jesus reminds us that we are to do the things that matter to God. What matters most? Our eternal salvation with him in glory. Be holy, for the Lord your God is holy.
