Thought of the Day January 4, 2023 The will of God.
"What was the first rule of our der Savior's life? You know it was to do his Father's will. Well, then, the first end I propose in our daily work is to do the will of God; secondly, to do it in the manner he wills; and thirdly, to do it because it is his will." St Elizabeth Ann Seaton
As we begin this New Year, it is good to refocus our lives and to commit them according to God's plan for us. What is that plan? That we do the will of God in all things. Without this we cannot enter the kingdom of God. This was clear from the beginning. Adam and Eve were given free will so that they can exercise that gift in union with God's will for them. Not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the will of God for them. By obeying his will because it was his will, they would remain in union with God. By disobeying his will, seeking to be like God, they separated themselves from God. How important is being in union with God for you? To remain in union with him and eventually see him face to face, involves doing the will of God "in a manner he will and. to do it because it is his will."
