“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." What is the key to Jesus's statement in regards to our response? Faith unleashes the resurrected life of Jesus. When we were baptized and sealed with the Oil of Chrism, it was the faith our parents and the community that enable us to share in the resurrected life of Jesus. But this faith must be personally actualized by us at some time in the future. It is this act of faith that allows us to continue in the resurrected life of Jesus. Jesus was not only referring to the resurrection of our bodies when he comes again, but prior to that our sharing in his resurrected life in the present moment. What a mystery! By grace we are able to share in the divine life of God now, so that, fulfilling God's plan for us, we may, as adopted sons and daughters, share in his life eternally. How conscious are we of this mystery and reality?
