We call this cafeteria Faith. The Gospels are the revealed Word of God, not the word of man. Men were inspired by the Spirit to recall and write down the words and deeds of Jesus. To reject what we don’t like is to make ourselves the validator of God’s Word. Or to interpret the word to fit our personal thinking pattern is to negate the power of the Word. What we are called to do is to hear, believe and act on the Word of God, because it is the Word of God. The Word of God cannot contradict itself, because it is truth. In accepting his word, we are accepting the Author of the Word, God himself. What we don't understand, we ask the Spirit to enable us to comprehend what God wants us to know.
