Thought of the Day August 30, 2024 Why worry?
“Worry is a weakness from which very few of us are entirely free. We must be on guard against this most insidious enemy of our peace of soul. Instead, let us foster confidence in God, and thank Him ahead of time for whatever He chooses to send us.” Blessed Solanus Casey
St. Paul gives us this admonition. “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then
the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and
minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians
4:6-7) To worry about things we have no control over is to put our attention on
our own inabilities, instead on the Lord, who has a plan and purpose for
everything. Worry saps our energy. Trust in the Lord’s providence strengthens
us as we wait. Worry brings tension and discontent, while leaning on the Lord
will bring the peace that endures. We can choose yin or yang.
