Thought of the Day September 23, 2024 Our intercessors
"I shall
be able to do much more for you in Heaven than I can now while I am on earth," Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (1887-1968)
The
intercessions of the Saints are powerful, greater than while they are on earth.
In this life, they are not yet perfected. Thus, their prayer is still limited,
though they are growing in holiness. In heaven, they are in full perfection and
union with God. Their prayer before the throne of God is therefore perfect,
according to the will of God. This is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church
says about this subject.
“The
witnesses who have preceded us into the kingdom, especially those whom the Church
recognizes as saints, share in the living tradition of prayer by the example of
their lives, the transmission of their writings, and their prayer today. They
contemplate God, praise him and constantly care for those whom they have left
on earth. When they entered into the joy of their Master, they were ‘put in
charge of many things.’ Their intercession is their most exalted service to
God's plan. We can and should ask them to intercede for us and for the whole
world.” (CCC 2683)
