Thought of the Day October 7, 2024 Humility and charity
“Particularly I admire two virtues rare in our days: a
profound humility and immense charity.” St. Anne Thérèse Guérin (1798-1856)
Without humility our charity may be ostentatious and
self-serving. Without love our humility may be superficial. The two go hand and
hand and support one another. The charity I am called to show is enabled by the
grace of God and not out of my worth. The truth of humility flows from the
reality that I am like a donkey going where Jesus leads, doing what he
indicates. The one who sees and judges my humility and my charity is God. It is
for him that I embrace humility and I show charity.
