To become discouraged or cast down is to focus on self in a pity-party, which changes nothing and makes changes difficult. God knows our faults and gives us the grace to work on our faults, while at the same time keeping our eyes on him and his merciful love. For our peace is found not in ourselves, but in our relationship with Christ, who is the Prince of Peace. His peace is not a feeling but a realization in faith of being one with God, even in our struggles. We need to learn how to rest in the arms of the Father, who cares and comforts his own. There we will find rest and peace.
