Thought of the Day March 21, 2025 You embrace me with your love
Psalms 31:5 “I have acknowledged my offense to you, and I have not concealed my injustice. I said, ‘I will confess against myself, my injustice to the Lord’ and you forgave the impiety of my sin.”
Once God confronted David of his sins in a dramatic way,
the sinner was contrite and accused himself of his wanton wrongdoing. He could
have tried to deny or try to excuse himself, but he did not. God could have
withheld his forgiveness, but he did not. As quickly as David was contrite and
confessed his sins, God forgave him. How often have we delayed going to
confession, choosing to live in denial? But once we do confess with a contrite
heart, God’s merciful forgiveness is poured upon us. God awaits our contrition.
Lord, have mercy on me, for I have sinned against you, who has loved me beyond
measure. Like the Prodigal Son, I don’t deserve to be your son, but you embrace
me with your love.
