Psalms 37:2 O Lord, do not rebuke me in your fury, nor chastise me in your wrath.

We know we have sinned in many ways. We know that justly we desire severe punishment for our sins. But with the Psalmist we plead for the mercy of God, which we do not deserve. But how often has God shone us his loving mercy, but we then returned to sinful actions, which are abominable to God! How long can we presume on the mercy of God? As we plead for his mercy, repent as a sign of gratitude. Lord, have mercy for we have sinned. Show me, once again, your loving compassion. Treat me as the Father treated the Prodigal Son.
